I’ve tried opening it in google chrome and firefox, and neither one works. While I could reproduce it in an hour or less, I would appreciate any help in restoring it (or at least, figuring out why it won’t load.)
If it helps, it was a “long” snippet – something like 5 or 6 lines, all filled with a full 8 bars of chords. So longer than most things that are posted to Theorytab – hence why it might be a rare bug that has to do with song length. Might be a shot in the dark, but hopefully this info will help. Thanks!
@onedog@Nikonani
do happen to know the date when these stopped working for you? I want to go through our nightly backups and find a version that worked. That would allow you to get your song back and me to diagnose what’s going on.

I posted this the day after it stopped working (I gave it a day to see if it was a short downtime) – I’d say it stopped working sometime after 6pm two days ago (11/11/2014), but to be safe, definitely after 12:00pm.
I have uploaded recovered versions of your songs from our nightly backups. Hopefully you didn’t lose too much work. Let me know if you have any trouble loading those songs.
Hey I have the same problem… I had been working on a tab for like 3 hours and now it won’t load at all. I can make a new tab and view other tabs perfectly fine, but mine just does not work.
If I highlight the blank space it says this:
This is very stupid, but the fancybox overlay causes weird sizing issues when the page it is on does not have content that fills the entire viewport. So this sentence is what is taking care of that.
Hey there. One of my tabs began to act like this as well today. Yesterday I was working on my tab just fine and then today I tried to open it and it’s just blank page. I’ve been working on this for a couple days now so I’d like it back. The tab is here:
@JoshJLutz, We have a fix coming soon (within an hour or so). I just have to recompile some stuff and push it up to hooktheory.com. This bug had to do with the fact that your lyrics contained the single character “s”. Our lyric algorithm was looking for words that end in “s” and checking to see if they were plural versions of their base word. Having the single “s” character as a word in your lyrics exposed a bug in our algorithm that caused the entire application to crash. Your data is 100% intact from your latest save.
BTW, I unavoidablly had to listen to the song quite a bit as I was debugging and just want to tell you I think it is fantastic. Nice work. I’ll post back here shortly when I push the updated application to the website.
Hi, May i ask if this issue had been resolved?
I just got plus and i used the lyrics functions, but all my work fail to load , they both got stuck at 45%!!
Now i had to resolve to using my camera to take pic in order that i can rework my pieces, would really appreciate if this can be resolved?
Hi Chris,
I am struggling with this problem as well ever since i became a plus user since two days ago…one of of works that I am trying to work with now can’t be load… is there anyway i can trouble you for your support and guidance on this?
I’m really sorry about this. We think this is a separate issue then what was happening to the previous people in this thread.
I should be able to restore your song. I need to through our backups. Bear with me so I can find the most recent version so I can get you back as much as possible.
We are trying to identify what is causing this. It seems to be related to a plus only feature as only Plus members are reporting problems.
Does your song have lyrics?
Im assuming it also makes use of the news mix features?
We just added a check that should alert you now if you try to save and it fails.
When this happens you might try removing what you just added that caused the save to fail. If you identity what you’re adding that is breaking and let us know, we can fix the underlying issue. (It could be, for example, maybe a particular instrument in your mix, or other setting, or possibly a particular lyric).
@Darren19821982, @jdschool we are very sorry about this and are working on a fix. We have narrowed the problem down to the save process (on our servers) failing in a particular way and not alerting Hookpad of the failure. We added a new check on our server that will hopefully notify you when the save fails in this particular way. In Hookpad, you will see an error message in the save dropdown similar to this, but the red text will say “The song data is empty. Save failed. Please email support@hooktheory.com”
If/when this happens, would you mind posting to this thread with a screenshot of your entire project (lyrics, chords, melody, and even the mix - may be multiple screenshots). The screenshot(s) will be very helpful in our debugging process.
