Suggestions and corrections

Hello,

I think what you are dong here is great! I have some suggestions to improve your product even more and one correction.

First: I wanted to suggest having the ability to loop a section your trying to learn while using the theory tabs. I realize the entire thing loops but I want to be able to break parts down as I go when learning a section or hone in on what is giving me the most trouble. So if I could just highlight a section and it loop only that, that would be very helpful. Strum machine offers this right now and it is a great app!

Second: It would also be nice if you could adjust the tempo and key of the song itself(you tube version) instead of just the piano version. There are other apps that currently do this (Chord AI).
I feel the current setup could really confuse someone new since the song continues to play in the original key even when you change the key on the chart. Plus this feature has been nice to use in other apps like the one I named above. Its nice to not tune my guitar down a half step just to learn something I will likely end up playing in standard tuning. I love that you offer transposition but its nice to have it and play with the actual song. I can definitely work with the midi piano for now but why not make this as great as possible!

3: There could also be buttons that let you skip to the beginning of the song like in most DAWs. The only thing I can do right now is click close to the start of the song but then I don’t get the full play back. This is very clunky especially since I cant loop a sections. I’m trying to play these songs on guitar and by the time I click play and get to my instrument I’ve already missed some of the song, which also leads me to suggestion 4

4: It would be great to have the option for a count in.

5:It would be nice to search songs and get the exact same chord progression I searched first before other results. Let me explain: If I search a iii Vii i chord progression I want my first options to be songs that have that exact chord progression in that order. I don’t want to have to sort through a ton of results that simply contain those chord types. I’m a guitar teacher and this would be a great tool to show students how some songs share the same chord progression. But when I search iii Vii i I get results that are more like Vi ii V ! more than that exact chords and order of chords I could use for my purpose.(Yes it does contain those chords in that order but they are surrounded by other chords and its technically not the same chord progression because Vi ii V i sounds way different than just a iii Vii i. I want to find similar chord progressions so I can do mash ups as well.
Maybe there could be a separate search option or each song could have a brief description of the chord progression so I don’t have to click each one, load to that page only to find out its no good for what I was looking for.

  1. Can we please just eliminate roman numerals. They serve no purpose, its just another thing the brain has to process to understand the information. Not everyone can look at Roman numerals and instantly know which number it is describing. At the end of the day we are thinking in scale degrees so lets cut out the middle man. Yes a lot of music students are forced to use roman numerals because that’s just how we use to do things but I feel it is time to trim the fat and make music easier to communicate. The less things my brain has to process to understand the information the better.

7.(Correction)Simple man is in the key of ab minor not B major. I’m not sure if you transcribe these or if AI does it. It can be tricky for songs that alternate between relative Major and minor but if you follow the melody it is in ab minor.

Overall I think what you are doing is great! I’ve wanted to create something similar myself. I’ve always been frustrated with the way music has been communicated. You either have tab which doesn’t explain what is happening musically, or musical notation which is ok but you have to learn how to read it and process that information in real time to understand how the notes relate to each other and the key. But any new person can understand the number system and pick up on the different sounds that come from each scale degree. Keep up the good work and if you are hiring I would love to contribute to a project like this. Its time to make music less confusing!
