In my current project, I have transcribed the Intro, Verse, and Chorus sections of the song from the linked YouTube video. I figured out how to successfully synchronize the Intro section of my transcription to the intro section of the actual song from the video. The problem now is that I cannot figure out how to synchronize the following Verse section.
If I click on the Verse tab directly over the transcription and then try to press [ to set the beginning of the playback for the Verse section, nothing happens. When I then try to physically drag the time markers to the start and end of the section, it only plays about the last half second of the sample; not only that, but this action changes the synchronization of the Intro section to where I want the Verse section to start.
Either I am missing something or the synchronization process is broken. I appreciate your help. Thank you.
You can only ever sync one section at a time. Once the intro is correctly synced you will need to save your hookpad project and submit the intro section. After that is done you can then move on to sync the next section.
To set the start and end points by pressing the bracket keys you will need to play the youtube video in “Set start/ end” mode and press the keys at the appropriate time. You can of course also set the timestamps manually by dragging them around. To confirm whether you have successfully synced the section you need to play the video in “Test the sync” mode.
The colored bars at the start of measure 1 and the end of measure 8 represent the start and end of the section. So once you’re done with the intro you need to drag these bars to the start and end of the verse section.
I don’t think the developers really intended for people to transcribe entire songs in a single Hookpad project, which is probably why the process can become kind of tedious and confusing. Me and many others prefer to transcribe each section of a song in a seperate Hookpad project.
