Awkward voicing for dominant 7 (#9) chords

Certain dominant 7 (#9) chords have strange note voicing that causes the #9 to be an octave higher.

Compare the E7(#9), which is perfectly fine…

…with the Eb7(#9) where the #9 is 8va for some reason

Is this the result of spacing notes out so there’s not too many clustered together?

its so the g and g-flat don’t clash with each other, but for some reason hookpad thinks it still next the the g so it 8vas it. this also applies to many other chords such as C(#9) chords

Hm, honestly I’m not sure. I don’t think that this happens intentionally though. I’ll investigate. Thanks for sharing this!

just bumping this up. It happens to all chords with a #9 (ebm7#9, D7#9, Cmaj7#9), not just dominant 7 chords. It also only happens if the root is C, C#/Db, D, D#/Eb, and sometimes E.
