MoreKB is repeating things that have been said by users like Quentin and fender and they’re also mentioning YoMama and jefd, although all of that was months before their account even existed.
On top of that they’re making the same kind of useless edits as YoMama, without giving any kind of sensible reasoning as to why they did it. I’m pretty sure YoMama is back… @Quentin136@_fender@chicknz
Oh yeah that’s definitely them lol. I haven’t seen them do anything super objectionable yet (tho I may have missed some of their edits), but I still want them banned just for being so annoying.
Their edits are about the same caliber as YoMama’s. Putting Don’t Stop 'Till You Get Enough in C# minor is pretty insane if you ask me.
Not all of their edits are as crazy as that one, but they’re all very annoying and uncalled-for. I mean look at Just A Girl. Changing the key for 2 measures just because there’s a non-diatonic chord in the progression is so nonsensical.
if I ever see a no3no5 in a tab I already know its a terrible transcription. Also I feel like YoMama1999 and their alts are some sort of AI based on how they talk, kinda like the user9 guy a couple weeks ago.
Really the only notable active contributors that make decent transcriptions are SilentPaaw, Quentin136, chicknz, _fender, and Valentyne (maybe missed some). User named “Dikoc” has appeared making awesome transcriptions but they only have 3 submissions
Gracebrigham shows up anytime a new big pop album comes out, and they transcribe at least the chorus of every song on it, so I appreciate them for that. World1243 also seems to have crazy good work ethic, they’re super reliable with alternative rock. There’s also Kalfinkins who’s great with classical and orchestral music.
Haha right? Why is it so hard for people to understand that the TheoryTab database is for harmonic analyses? Just go to ultimate-guitar.com if you’re looking for guitar tabs.
There are quite a lot of users that add valuable transcriptions to the database within their niche of music every now and then and that is great.
What this community is really missing though are people that have the competency and the motivation to correct faulty transcriptions, replace youtube links, fix sync issues, report duplicates and naming errors, etc on a daily basis or at least multiple times a week.
There is an insane amount of horrible transcriptions on the database and even most of the decent transcriptions still have errors that need to be fixed. With the amount of new Tabs that are uploaded every day there would need to be way more people to help make the database a somewhat reliable source of information.
Agreed, I love this website and I love directing people to specific TheoryTabs, but I also have to offer the disclaimer that it’s all user-generated and therefore some tabs are wroooong.
As far as fixing tabs, it’d be really helpful if there were convenient “request change” buttons on TheoryTab pages; for song title changes, artist name changes, section deletion requests, and entire page deletion requests. These are currently done by emailing support@hooktheory.com, but that is not convenient, especially to people who are allergic to sending emails.
Even someone with a work ethic like Vaz won’t be able to fix the database all on their own. There’s only so much one human can do in 24 hours and we all have lives outside of this platform. What we really need is a bigger team of users that are willing to help clean up the database and then keep it clean.
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad to hear you love the website and enjoy directing others to specific TheoryTabs. Your suggestion about having convenient “request change” buttons for various updates on TheoryTab pages is a great idea and could certainly enhance user experience. While this feature isn’t available yet, please continue to contact support@hooktheory.com for any changes or requests. We appreciate your input and are always looking for ways to improve!
I’m primarily here for chord crush and pop in to fix youtube links every now and again, especially when I come across them broken in chord crush. I’d be a lot more motivated if those youtube fixes eventually worked their way back there. As it is, I feel like I’m paying to fix a broken product that’ll never be fixed, but I’ll continue fixing them when I see them anyway, because it’s the right thing to do.
