Hello, individual chords sound OK when adding them in the grid, but the play back is playing wrong chord sounds… and seems to play always the same whatever the chords in the grid…
Actually, even when the sound of all the instruments of the band are off, there is still a band playing. This may explain why the sounds do not seem right, if there are conflicting notes and chords always playing over my composition. This bug appeared with the latest release
Hi,
Sorry you’re running into this — that definitely shouldn’t be happening. Can you let me know if this issue occurs with all of your projects, or only with a specific one? That will help narrow down what might be going wrong.
Dennis
Thank you for your prompt answer. Unfortunately, it applies to all my projects, not only the new ones. When playing back my compositions, I have the same strange sounds playing over my own chords and melodies.
I’m having problems similar to what AlainR78 described. When I select a chord it sounds fine. If I drag it into the timeline, it sounds find. But when I hit play, the chord sounds oddly dissonant, e.g. a major chord sounds like a dim7. This is true for songs I create, existing songs I saved, and demo songs I download. It happened recently; songs were playing normally a few days ago.
I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue on my end — playback is playing the correct chords here. Could you let me know what operating system you’re on, and which version of Hookpad you’re using? That will help us track this down.
Dennis
I have a Lenovo portable PC with Windows 11. My browser is Microsoft Edge. My Hookpad version is 2.36.5. If this can help, the issue seems to come from the integrated player in Hookpad, because when I export the midi file, my own midi player (MuseScore) plays it correctly. Rather than playing the chord wrongs, looks like the player plays another chord (I can’t identify it) on top, as well as always playing the drums (even if set on off). the same odd sounds is also played by the bass (it follows the wrong chords bass note).
I am using a Lenovo Legion desktop running Windows 11, with v 2.36.5 of Hookpad. That version of Hookpad works fine on my Android (Samsung Z Flip 7). Previous versions of Hookpad ran normally on my desktop a week ago.
The problem only occurs on playback. When I click on a chord it sounds normal, but when I click play it plays back a very dissonant chord. See my other comment for a little more info about that. Also, here’s a demo video: https://youtu.be/fA2MQ4ftE8Y
Thanks for looking into this! If there’s anything I can do to help with debugging please let me know.
Apparently the issue is coming from Microsoft Edge on my side. Hookpad opened in Firefox works well ! So maybe a future update of Edge will fix the problem. Pending that, I’ll switch to Firefox to continue using Hookpad (great software by the way !).
Good catch, AlainR78. No problems when using Google’s Chrome browser either. I guess the problem with MS Edge is limited to Windows, it works fine with Hookpad on Android. Thanks for the update.
As a hopefully final update, the Microsoft Edge browser has been updated and Hookpad is now working fine with it.
Hi,
thanks a lot for your patience on this one — glad to hear the issue has been resolved now!
