what you need is a more robust method of authentication and stepped access. IP restrictions are OK. new users can post 2 questions over 48 hours and respond in those threads 4x each over 72 hours. then they can post 4 questions and respond 8x each over a week. then after they reach 50 posts and/or answers over the next 2 weeks or more, they can then apply for permission to post theory entries and apply for edit permissions.
what does this do? it makes getting to the point of posting / editing / damaging much harder for someone looking to do damage. it means people can ask for help, and as they get trusted, the moderator can allow people to post and edit the theory entries. rather than a free-for-all (mob-rule and all that democracy stuff). it means actual interested people can grow into the forum and theory database as opposed to assuming everyone is a good person or has good intentions.
