Hello! I’m fairly experienced with writing chord progressions and Hooktheory clearly handles that
What about link chord progressions into songs? If you have an ABACAB format, and you have progression A, what is the music theory for finding a good B to go along with it? Or even a C for that matter?

This is coming from someone who’s still learning basic theory too, so take this with a pinch of salt.

Basically the rules for substitution he explained just follow the circle of fifths:
As long as you substitute the chord with anything right next to it, it should sound fine.
Just played it on the keyboard, think it sounds alright.
Of course this is just speculation, hopefully someone more experienced can answer your question.
