Is this song ("Love Theme" by Ennio Morricone) minor or major?

Hi there!

I recently uploaded this song to the Theorydatabase, but I’m still not sure if this song’s in G minor or in Bb Major.

Any ideas?

Both.

As transcribed, it is in G minor.

It could also be in B♭ major though using chords vi ii V I iii64 vi I64 IV.

B♭ major might even make more sense because V to I is a stronger cadence than anything in the minor version. In G minor, even though the v64 goes to i, it isn’t very cadential since it is both minor and inverted, and is probably best interpreted as a passing chord between III and i.
