When pasting from the clipboard, clicking on a chord to set my desired insertion point only works correctly when I am very careful to select the middle of the chord, i.e. when the mouse cursor is , or if the target chord is before the selection in the timeline. If the target chord is after the selection and I am sloppy and the mouse cursor is
<|>
, the insertion point remains somewhere around the original copied selection, even though the chord I want as my insertion point appears to get selected. Oddly, if I click on a blank section of the chord staff between copying and pasting, then clicking on a chord with either the or
<|>
mouse cursor works to set the insertion point.
Success case:
- Select and copy some chords
- Select any target chord for insertion using the
mouse cursor
- The desired target chord appears to be selected
- Paste
Clipboard is pasted beginning at target chord
Failure case:
- Select and copy some chords
- Somewhere after the selection, select a target chord for insertion using the
<|>
mouse cursor, but donât click so close to the edge of the chord that a cursor is shown instead of selecting the chord - The desired target chord appears to be selected
- Paste
Clipboard is pasted somewhere around the original copied selection
Target chord is still deleted for some reason
Odd workaround:
- Select and copy some chords
- Click an empty location on the chord staff to move the cursor
- Select any target chord for insertion using either the
or
<|>
mouse cursor - The desired target chord appears to be selected
- Paste
Clipboard is pasted beginning at target chord
This workaround has additional caveats however. If, before pasting, you change your mind and choose a different chord, it goes back to its original behavior. In fact, except for the âodd workaroundâ case, if you select multiple target chords in succession before pasting, the insertion point will be at the last chord selected with the mouse cursor. Only the first chord after clicking an empty chord staff location is able to be selected with the
<|>
mouse cursor.
Finally, when I say âsomewhere around the original copied selectionâ, the exact point seems to be either before the first chord, between the first and second chords, between the last two chords, or after the last chord, depending on the direction the selection was made and something else I have yet to determine. This behavior is also inconsistent and unintuitive.
