Export Hookpad's Chord Guide as a Visual MIDI Track

One of the most helpful features in Hookpad is the chord guide that highlights which notes work well with the currently selected chord. It’s an excellent tool for writing melodies that stay harmonically grounded.

I’d love to see an option to export this guide as part of the MIDI file. Specifically, it could be an additional MIDI channel containing the guide notes as MIDI data. This channel wouldn’t be linked to any instrument or generate sound—it would exist purely as a visual reference in a DAW like FL Studio. Just like in Hookpad, it would show which notes correspond to each chord, helping maintain harmonic clarity during production.

This would be especially useful when continuing a project in a DAW, where it’s easy to lose track of which notes fit with each chord. Having the chord-tone guide embedded directly in the MIDI would make the transition from Hookpad to a DAW much smoother and help preserve creative momentum.

Thanks in advance—curious to hear if others would find this helpful too!

Hi and thank you for your suggestion!

You might try the “Piano only” mode. This export one chord track which has just the chord notes in it. It exports the melodies, too but you can easily delete those in your DAW. But I think if you export this and add it to your song in your DAW you should have an excellent guide track.

Another thing you could do is to just add a “Sustain Full Chords” track to each of your bands. This would also jut add long sustained chord notes a guide track to your MIDI file.

Please let me know if this helps!
