I love the possibility to enter lyrics directly in a sheet. For me that’s one USP of hookpad. But if I type (Windows, Edge) the webapp can not make a difference if I enter a letter for the sign or as a command. Not so bad but if this bug could be eliminated even better.
Hi and thank you for your feedback!
I was not able to replicate this behavior but from your description it sounds like the focus somehow is in the wrong place. Is this happening all the time in all your songs or just when you opening the lyrics editor in a specific way?
Regards!
Dennis
It’s actually as soon as I start to enter lyrics. I will try to record a youtube clip which shows the problem or perhaps the steps which lead to it.
I can corroborate this. I have also seen this issue in Windows and in Edge.
I don’t remember the hotkey (as I never input notes using that method), but the record button is activated relatively often whenever using the keyboard for other things.
Hm, the hotkey for “Record” is the “R” key. Usually everytime a text field is in focus the hotkeys should be out of function. So I guess this is somehow broken. The problem is, I can’t see that behaviour in my Edge browser. What are the exact steps bevor you get this behaviour?
I don’t enter lyrics, but I had noticed a similar issue in Firefox with text entry enabled. When saving a file, recording and/or the metronome would often start when I pressed the appropriate keys, although the letter would still appear correctly in the file name too. After turning off text entry to fix the pasting-across-line-breaks issue, this seems to have stopped too.
Thank you for the tip. Does it still happen if you enable Hookpad’s text entry mode?
Are you all on the latest version?
If I enable text entry in Firefox, I get the issue again. Like the pasting-across-line-breaks issue, it never seems to be an issue in Chrome. I’m on the latest version (2.34.3).
Yeah, so the pasting-across-line-breaks “issue” is actually intentional. When text entry is enabled, each line kind of works for itself to prevent destroying later lines when entering something in the first line. You can’t also enter more notes in the middle if a line is full. This behavior is the same in any browser.
As for the “R” key, I found something in the code which might have caused your behavior. I fixed it, so I think this issue should be gone after the next update. But as I have never seen this happening myself I can’t be sure. Perhaps you can give me some feedback when version 2.34.5 is live?
Thanks!
Dennis
