Change Chord Octaves?

I get how to change note octaves. How do you - or can you - vary the octaves of chord progressions or individual chords within a progression? This question is both for HookPad and for Chord Crush. Thanks.

Hi and thank you for your question.

Unfortunately there is no way to change the octave of a single chord inside the chord progression, however there are a few workarounds:

  • You could create one extra band change marker to affect only one bar. This way you can set a custom octave for that bar but you have to be careful if you’re using drums as their arrangements are affected by band markers, too.
  • You could write the bass notes yourself. I usually use voice4 in the melody region, select a bass instrument and am free to write in as much octaves as I like.

Thank you for answering my question. It is too bad that this functionality does not exist and that one has to try to use work-arounds.
