Hey moderators, why can’t you ban users? We’ve asked so many times to ban user PartyShirt (who will inevitably come to this post spouting a bunch of incomprehensible nonsense) because of their disruptive behavior on the forum, as well as disruptive behavior in the TheoryTab Database (as Keira Banks/ BKeira930/ YoMama1999/ JohnCena2/ etc).
Anytime I ask for this, I’m met with indifferent shrugs. What good is a forum if it can’t be properly moderated? Do something about this, because I am so exhausted. I’d like to be a consistent, passionate contributor to this database, but the ineffectual moderation is testing my patience.
I am also becoming increasingly frustrated - and confused - by the admins here. The TheoryTab database is the backbone behind all Hooktheory products. It’s surely in the best interest of the company to keep the database - and the community of users that contribute to it for free - as healthy has possible. Clear bad actors fail to be banned. Meanwhile, I’ve submitted hundreds of TheoryTabs, but when I tried to update a video on a TheoryTab several weeks ago, my account got banned from submitting. I’ve posted here multiple times and DM’d the admins, yet I’ve unable to get my account reactivated.
Admins (@chris@DSchwachhofer@dave@Ryan ): I once again want to strongly encourage you to create a system to delegate some database moderation responsibilities to community members. It’s clear that y’all don’t have the bandwidth to deal with individual cases like this, and there are many community members who care about the product and would happily step up to the plate. It will make your lives easier, not harder.
I fully agree with everything you said, but there’s absolutely no reason to wait several weeks for your account to be unbanned. You can simply write an email to support@hooktheory.com and they will take care of it immediatlely.
yeah sorry for not seeing that you needed to be unbanned. We don’t have an active view yet for who is getting banned so you need to ask (support email is better than forum and won’t get lost since a ticket is created and tracked rather than getting buried in forum post). I have unbanned you. I am also working on creating a white list so that regular contributors aren’t being accidentally banned. It looks like there are a small number of accidental bans per week but hopefully that will go down with the white list.
