REAL separation of instruments when exporting

Something that is a bit frustrating is that instruments can only be exported separately in groups like “Lead 1”, “Chords”, “Bass”, “Drums”, etc. when in fact, each band can have more than one instrument located in those groups. So, every time I want to export the tracks of a song to make a mix, I have to spend hours muting and unmuting instruments. In the case of percussion, there are usually not two percussion instruments playing at the same time so it is easier, but in the case of harmony instruments, when there are sometimes 3 or 4 in the same band, I have to go band by band selecting the ones I don’t want playing, and then undoing this, and so on. When I have more than one “Lead 1”, “Lead 2” or “Lead 3” because I have one instrument copy another, it leads to the same problem. The same if I have two basses, etc. I would greatly appreciate it if you would consider adding this functionality as soon as possible.

Hi and thank you for your feedback! I totally understand the frustration when trying to export stems on an instrument level, not only the aux busses. Unfortunately the way Hookpad has set up its band instruments there is not a very straight-forward way to do this. We also need a smart way to combine similar instruments between two bands to avoid getting 100 stems at the end. Or perhaps if we’re fine with 100 stems we could simply automate the process of soloing one instrument after another and bouncing that.
I’ll put it on our feature request list and we’ll see if we can find a way to do this.

In the mean time you could also try the instrument export itself. This might be a bit quicker than soloing and exporting. Just select all bars of a band and click at the share button on the left of each band instrument.

Please let me know if this helped.

Dennis

interesting, I’ll try it. but it won’t stay in the right place when I add it to the mix, right? I mean, it doesn’t fill in the other bands’ parts with silences.

Yes, that’s right, you have to find the correct bar in your DAW and move the file there manually.
