Heya guys, how’s it going, me again with a FR!
I would love to use Hookpad’s dark mode more, but I’ve been meaning to say that its level of contrast leaves a bit to be desired. Do you think you’ll ever add a higher contrast dark mode? The scale degree colours are very muddy and difficult to distinguish on any display I’ve tried, and the elements/controls themselves can be hard to do manipulation with because of the low contrast as well; I wish I could use it more when I’m up at night transcribing or composing instead of sleeping but it results in a lot of eye strain and a headache the next day! I expect use of truer black tones would probably not just be easier on the eyes but on screen battery use as well.
Looks like others have submitted requests along this line before.
I’ve got good colour vision, so I can imagine someone with a visual impairment might have far more trouble than I do.
For example, I imagine that you could probably put a thin (1px or more?) full-saturation line of colour on the “staff”. And I don’t think a thin white border interferes too badly with a dark mode when it is in the pursuit of higher contrast/visually accessible controls, when it is used to denote a border. But I suppose it’s about what’s achievable from a development perspective.
Take care
